Service Areas

The following services are typically offered: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and evening hours are available in some service areas.

First Impressions
Volunteers greet each guest as they enter the hospital in the main lobby, perform concierge services, and provide information to visitors, patients and staff. Direct patients and visitors to department areas within hospital and secures escorts as needed. Answer phone and transfer call to appropriate persons. Recognize anxiety, turmoil, and fear through body language and provide warm, friendly assistance to reduce this.

VIP – Patient Transport, Discharge, and Escort
Volunteers take calls from various hospital departments and units to provide assistance with non-clinical tasks. Such tasks may include assisting with the transport and discharge of patients; escorting patients and their belongings to and from their rooms upon admission and discharge from the hospital; and delivering flowers to patients from the Gift Shop.

Golf Cart Shuttle
Volunteers drive golf carts to provide rides for patients, employees and visitors to and from their cars. Make regular rounds in the parking lots, offering rides and monitoring for security purposes.

Gift Shop
Volunteers help stock, display, sell and deliver a wide assortment of gifts and necessities to our patients and visitors. Help maintain the Gift Shop in a neat and orderly fashion. This position involves guest and patient interactions.

Surgical Services
Volunteers assist staff with patient transport in Recovery areas, escorting visitors to and from Surgical Waiting Room, and answering questions for patients and family members. Provide clerical support for Surgical Registration staff members as needed (i.e. putting labels on charts, etc.). Surgical Services also encompasses the PACU, PSA and Chart Management service areas of the hospital.

Patient Access Concierge
Volunteers assist patient admissions by escorting new patients to various areas of the hospital, as well as escorting patients who arrive for outpatient services. Assist visitors or patients with other concierge-type services.

Medical Office Buildings - Holly Springs, Towne Lake and Cherokee
Volunteers greet patients and visitors in the beautiful new medical office building; answer questions and direct visitors; assist Radiology/Imaging in their waiting area; and assist with discharging patients in wheelchairs and light paperwork.

Mail Service
Volunteers who enjoy being busy and walking are responsible for sorting and distributing mail to various hospital departments. Must be friendly and have a good sense of direction.

Network of Hope Volunteer Program
Network of Hope connects cancer patients with mentors who are survivors. Although Network of Hope volunteers offer no medical advice or guidance, our hope is that by sharing and listening, patients will realize they are not alone. Volunteers provide support, as well as hope and proof, that a return to healthy, active living is possible. Provide assistance with Community Outreach and Special Events as well. Additional interview and training required.
